We offer two basic Engine group choices. The Vortec group is generally used on 1974 and newer Cruisers that are required to meet California (or comparable) emissions standards. The Ram Jet V8 is generally used in 1975 and older (1973-in Ca) Cruisers that are exempt from testing. Any of our GM conversions offer at least double the horsepower and an increase in fuel efficiency over the stock Toyota engine.
We offer a variety of transmission and transfer case choices. If you want a manual transmission, you may choose between the four or five speed Toyota units, or the New Venture 4500 (originally used in GM and Dodge applications). If you prefer an automatic transmission, we offer the General Motors 4L60E.
All Vortec conversions are compliant with current California emissions standards and retain the stock G.M. check engine light and OBD-2 diagnostic system for easy maintenance.
All Ram Jet conversions are more efficient and better for the environment than the original Toyota engines but are not approved for 1976 or newer emissions regulated vehicles due to Federal technicalities.
We will convert your Cruiser or one of ours (discounted on Stage 2 or 3 restorations) . Conversions are usually completed within 45 days time (with scheduled appointment) and are guaranteed for 12 months or 12,000 miles (contact TLC for a copy of the full terms and conditions of warranty). We use only top quality components sourced from leaders in the Street Rod and Conversion industries and General Motors to ensure a Quality Conversion Package.
