TLC offers a variety of conversions using General Motors engines and transmissions. We also offer the manuals, parts and conversion adapters you will need if you do the job yourself. When deciding whether or not to convert your Cruiser, we recommend you consider these two basic points. One, investigate the laws in regards to emissions standards in your State. Laws vary, and so will the allowed conversions. Make sure you thoroughly understand what engine/conversion options your State will allow. Generally, any Cruiser model year 1975 or older is exempt from Federal emissions testing (in California 1973-). Two, planning is very important so that the design is well thought out. Decide on all of your major drive components and work out the adapters and parts needed before you take apart your Cruiser or order a bunch of parts. Understand that a conversion is a significant investment of time and money. Do not opt to convert thinking it is a lower cost option to rebuilding your stock components. A conversion can be an educational and fulfilling experience to do at home. Anyone with mechanical experience and patience will enjoy the process. We recommend you start in the Adapter section .
