Stage Three 2001 FJ43.
This body style was never before offered in the USA. It was available overseas until late 2001. We have access to the Toyota parts for the Brazilian Bandeirante (their Land Cruiser since 1958) and use them to enhance some of our restorations and designs, including this Cruiser.
This truck was commissioned by NUMMI (the makers of the Tacoma) and Toyota Motor Sales as one of three in a series of designs looking at the next generation Land Cruiser in 2006. For this one, we extracted the OBD-2 platform, fuel system, wiring harness and V6 engine from a new 2001Tacoma. We then fit those components into a modified 2001 Brazilian Bandeirante which we extensively restyled inside and out. The interior is designed in modern Toyota textiles with full carpet. Custom rims and tires on modified axle carriers with disc brakes. This prototype is on display at TLC currently.
