TLC Inspected and Certified Land Cruisers undergo a one day inspection encompassing over 300 points so that we become aware of all systems conditions. We find that due to the reputation of the Land Cruiser, even the most diligent owners only repair items when they break. After over ten years of reliable service, we think it is time to take a far more comprehensive approach. Systems inspected range from wiper blades to engine, tranny and transfer case, brake system, cooling system, electrical system and much more. Once a TLC technician completes the inspection process, the service manager reviews the report and sees that all systems inspected are repaired by the technician to meet or exceed factory specifications. After a final quality control check and road test by our foreman, we write a complete repair order indicating what jobs were performed and warranty information. Trust that a more comprehensive repair process does not exist in the business. In fact, the stage one process is far more thorough than Toyota's own "certified used vehicle" program.
TLC Inspected and Certified Land Cruisers receive the stage one mechanical repairs first. Then it is up to you! Generally the point of stage 2 is to give you the option to dial the truck in to meet your specific needs or to improve the cosmetic condition short of the time and expense of the stage 3 restoration. Popular requests include paint, upholstery, suspension systems, winch, brush guards, racks, lighting, soft top, wheels and tires, emblems, powder coating, locking differentials, 5 speed transmission and much more. Just tell us what you want or ask for recommendations.
TLC Land Cruisers are simply the best in the world. On display in Toyota's museum overseas and in service as daily drivers world wide, there are no more comprehensively restored Land Cruisers to be found. Born out of Jonathan's life long habit of taking vehicles all the way down to the frame and back up to new condition, these Cruisers surpass even our most demanding customers (including Toyota) expectations. The process begins with photo documentation of the trucks original condition and quickly moves on to the process of disassembly. In short, the Cruisers are stripped to a bare frame and all parts are rebuilt, replaced, or otherwise restored to new condition and then reinstalled on a freshly powder coated frame and restored body. The engines output is moderately enhanced as well as the brake system. All other systems are built to factory specifications. Beware of other "specialists" who claim to restore Land Cruisers. Review the stage 3 description list and compare. Many competitors "restorations" consist of a basic paint job and some after market weather stripping and enough mechanical work to get it running well enough to leave their lot. Body&Paint Once the drive train is removed, body is stripped of all trim, glass, accessories, interior, and electrical until body is bare. Fenders, grille panel, aprons, hood, windshield frame, 4 doors, roof cap, roof sides and body tub are removed from the frame. The frame is high pressure steam cleaned to remove all contaminants then hand washed to strip finish of wax and oils. All body work is completed in our state of the art facility using a plasma cutter to remove affected steel then seamless welded patch panels of the same gauge are grafted in. Crushed aluminum Micro spheres used as a primary filler with a top coat filler then complete base primer topped with 5-6 coats of acrylic enamel paint in the original colors. Once cured, surfaces are color sanded, polished and waxed to show off a finish far superior to original factory standards. Before reassembly, body underside is thoroughly undercoated to protect it from the elements.
