"The BJ 45 on Display at TLC"

VAN NUYS, California. -- October 10th, 1996 -- Today at TLC in Van Nuys California, we welcomed the arrival of a one-of-a-kind specialty Land Cruiser. This unique 1984 BJ 45 (photo enclosed) was designed and radically modified by Frédéric Zumbiehl of Montpellier, France.

Zumbiehl, a one time pilot for the French air force, custom built his BJ in France, then shipped it to the United States for a cross continental journey. During the past few months Zumbiehl has traveled 20,000 miles, crossing Alaska, Canada, and the greater part of the United States.

The truck is powered by a 100,000 mile, 3.4 litre, 90hp diesel engine. There is a 50 gallon fuel capacity providing a range of approximately 850 miles with the four wheel drive engaged.

The after compartment, built out of steel with polar/desert insulation, was specially built for back-country living. A stove, heater, chemical toilet, table, shower, high lift jack, double bed, custom springs and shocks, GPS, Shortwave, and stereo, provides the occupant of the BJ with exceptional comfort while traveling.

Over one year in the making, Zumbiehl has a deep love for his vehicle. When asked whether he'd consider selling it Zumbiehl replied in a very thick French accent, "Yes, of course... for ze right price." Currently Zumbiehl is back in France preparing for a six month South American adventure.

During the interim TLC invites the public to visit this truly one-of-a-kind Cruiser now on display in the showroom. For more information, please contact Jonathan Ward at the TLC headquarters in Van Nuys, Ca.

We have two pictures of the BJ45 for you, the aerodymanic look, and the roof up for the night..
